Accessibility Statement

Our Commitment

LearningCues is committed to making our study platform accessible to all students, including those with disabilities. We believe that high-quality study tools should work for everyone, and we are actively working to improve the accessibility of Cue.

Conformance Status

Cue is partially conformant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. We conduct automated accessibility testing using Lighthouse and manual keyboard navigation testing as part of our development process. We acknowledge that full conformance is an ongoing effort and we are committed to continuous improvement.

Measures We Take

  • Semantic HTML structure with proper heading hierarchy and landmark regions
  • Keyboard navigability for core study flows (flashcard review, navigation)
  • Color contrast ratios meeting WCAG 2.2 AA minimums (4.5:1 for normal text)
  • Focus indicators for all interactive elements
  • ARIA labels for dynamic content and custom UI components
  • Support for screen readers via descriptive link text and alt attributes
  • RTL (right-to-left) support for Arabic and other RTL languages

Known Limitations

Despite our efforts, some areas of Cue may not yet be fully accessible:

  • Math symbol palette: The 27-symbol palette in flashcard answer input relies on visual iconography. We are working on screen-reader-friendly alternatives.
  • Drag-and-drop interactions: The study set builder and deck organizer use drag-and-drop reordering, which may be difficult for keyboard-only users. Keyboard alternatives are in development.
  • Multiplayer mode:Real-time study battles have fast-paced interactions that may not fully accommodate all users. We plan to add a “relaxed pace” mode.
  • Animated mascot: The CueEye animated mascot has reduced-motion alternatives but may still animate in some contexts.

Feedback & Contact

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of Cue. If you encounter an accessibility barrier, please let us know:

  • Email: accessibility@learningcues.org
  • Response time: We aim to respond to accessibility inquiries within 3 business days.

Evaluation

Cue is evaluated using:

  • Google Lighthouse automated accessibility audits (run on every deployment)
  • Manual keyboard navigation testing
  • Screen reader testing with VoiceOver (macOS) and NVDA (Windows)

Third-Party Content

Community decks and user-generated content may not meet our accessibility standards. If you encounter inaccessible community content, please report it and we will work with the content creator to improve it.
